Wrack Line Discovery Meet Ups

  • NW 15th Street - Beach Access Lincoln City, OR 97367 USA (map)

Interested in the Ocean and Oregon Coast? Interested in Learning? Science? If YES…Join us for a Wrack Line Discovery Meet up - Friday, August 9th from 10 -11.

  • The wrack line is the place on the beach where plant and other material is deposited at high tide. We can learn a lot about the ocean by looking at what is deposited at this line.

  • Each WRACK LINE Discovery Meet up is a casual, one-hour walk on the beach during a low tide period. You will use your mobile phone (iphone or android) to (1) take photos of plant and animal life on the wrack line and (2) Upload the photos into a free app named iNaturalist. A facilitator will be there to show you how and to assist you.

  • The uploaded photos are used by scientists to track changes in the central Oregon Ocean. Join us and become a community scientist!
