Ochre Sea Star Monitoring

  • Roads End State Recreation Area Lincoln City, OR United States (map)

Sea Star Monitoring, part of the 4CAST Project in the Cascade Head Biosphere Reserve.

The Cascade Head Biosphere Collaborative and OSU’s Marine Studies team will be conducting a low tide monitoring of Ochre sea stars to determine how they are rebounding from recent sea star wasting disease. Scientists and trained volunteers will be systematically investigating the tidepools at the far end of Roads End beach in Lincoln City. Other volunteers will be providing background information to the public. Look for the informational tables and also learn how you can help with other projects including the “Wrack Line”, a community science research project that is easy and fun for the whole family.
