LEARN THE BEAUTIFUL FOLK ART OF JAPANESE FISH PRINTING  ~ (Gyotaku)

Join artist Duncan Berry to take a deep dive into this magnificent artform where you will create original pieces of art printed directly from the marine species themselves.   This is a full day class (6 hours) and will be hosted upstairs at the exquisite new Pelican Brewing overlooking Siletz Bay, where the views are as beautiful as the art you'll be taking home.

When: Saturday, March 16th starting at 11:00 AM and going until 5:00 PM

Where: Pelican Brew Pub / Siletz Bay / 2nd floor.

What: ART MADE FROM CREATURES OF THE LAND, SEA AND AIR: An opportunity to print a dozen or more beautiful direct impressions from WILD creatures of the land, sea and air here where we live along Oregon's coastline. Included will be specimens of Octopus of different sizes, Chinook Salmon, Rockfish, Ling Cod, Albacore, a variety of different Seaweeds, Dungeness and Rock Crab, a rare Wolf Eel, Starfish, Razor Clams, Sand Dollars, and more. No prior art experience necessary. All workshop instruction, materials and lunch are included. As a special bonus participants will be learning fascinating facts about the lives of these species and about the Marine Reserve program in Oregon...as they print! These are fun stories to share with your friends and family as they admire your prints.

Who: The teacher for this workshop will be Duncan Berry, Master Gyotaku artist. Duncan is offering only a handful of workshops a year now so this is your chance to “go deep” and learn from his years of exploring and expanding this traditional printing technique.

No prior experience needed!  This class is suited for all levels of printers from beginners to experts.
